Deaf Female 10 week Old Great Dane Puppy

Fiona is a 10 week old Pure Bred Great Dane Puppy who was born deaf
Fiona is AKC registered with limited registration due to being born deaf
Fiona's breeder preferred to see Fiona spend time in a rescue experienced
in raising Deaf Great Danes to help her get a great start in life
so Fiona could be trained in sign language and learn all the skills
she will need to be successful in a new loving home .

A lot of Great Dane Breeders will just have any puppies born deaf
euthanized rather than give them a chance at life

Fiona's breeder choose to give Fiona a chance at life even though Fiona
was born with a genetic inperfection *being deaf* and C.O.D.A.
applauds Fiona's breeder for her courage in allowing Fiona
to come into rescue here at C.O.D.A.

Fiona is a spunky, spirited girl. Fiona is also going to be a BIG girl
Fiona has very large paws that she is currently learing to operate without
tripping over. Fiona has beautiful conformation and her eyes have normal
pupils without any obvious deformities which is often common in Great Dane Pups
born deaf.
Fiona has excellent vision
Fiona is also very smart and learned to walk up and down the 4 steps
to access the outdoor play area and dog park in about 20 minutes
of training time
Fiona has learned the sign for " sit" already also
Fiona has learned the sign for " give me kisses" on her first day here at C.O.D.A.

Fiona had her first Veterinary Visit with Dr. Brian on 11.15.11
Fiona weighed in at 30.9 lbs
Fiona needs to wait another week to receive her last set of puppy vaccinations
Fiona tested negative for any intestinal parasites
Fiona's heart appears fine
Fiona got a clean bill of health from Dr. Brian
But Fiona is on a few medications for her stomach for the next week.
The stress of leaving her " mommy dog" and moving to a new situation
was a bit tough on Fiona the first few days but a lot of cuddling, loving
and training sessions has helped her to settle in quickly
Fiona's first Vet Bill today was $60.00

 

Fiona is a quick learner because she makes excellent eye contact
which will facilitate her " sign training"

ADOPTION APPLICATION
Requirements for adoption will be as follows
Experience raising a Great Dane from a puppy to senior years
Experience with Deaf Dogs preferred but not mandatory
Very Secure 6 foot fencing required
Home ownership required to adopt Fiona
Excellent Veterinary References and Approved Home Visit
