Deaf 4 mo old Australian Shepherd
( Columbiana County Ohio Dog Pound Rescue)

Intake Date Christmas Day 2008

We agreed to rescue " Noel" who was being called "Sampson" after we were contacted by
the wonderful staff at the Columbiana County Dog Pound alerting us to this puppy's urgent need
to get safely into rescue. Noel was scheduled to be euthanized on Christmas Eve.
We had one day to pull together a Christmas Miracle for " Noel"
Noel is only about 4 months old and was born deaf.

Two other rescues had offered to try to help Noel, but one was out of state all the way in MN
and the other didn't have a foster home opening up for two weeks
Neither situation helped Noel make a quick exit from the shelter where he was scheduled to be killed
the day before Christmas 2008.

We agreed to immediately remove Noel from the shelter and get him safely to CODA Cental in Cleveland Ohio
Noel would like to thank Colleen and her family for picking him up at the shelter and driving him to Cleveland Ohio
on Christmas Day while they were on their way to Cleveland to visit their parents
( CODA adopted blind and deaf dog Sydney's parents)
Noel was packed in the car along with the Christmas Presents, the kids going to see their Grandma and Granpa
and Aunts and Uncles for Christmas

Thanks to Colleen's Family's caring hearts we were able to work together to pull off a Christmas Miracle for Noel
Thus we decided that " Sampson" needed a more fitting Christmas themed name:)
So " Noel" it is!
Our little darling Christmas Rescue Puppy

Noel is settling into our main foster facility and we will have updated information on Noel as we get to know him better
Noel is neutered and will have his stitches out in a few days
Noel is also up to date on all his vaccinations and has been wormed
Noel has been frontlined and was bathed upon arrival at CODA Central on Christmas Day

 

Noel is just a typical, very happy, young puppy. Noel is making good eye contact already
so we expect he will learn his sign commands very easily
Noel has a deformed pupil in his left eye but appears to have very functional vision
We tested him in the new Dog Park by throwing toys which he easily located

Noel is very anxious to please his human caretakers and loves being petted, hugged and given attention
Noel has been very gentle and sweet with the Cats here at CODA so he should do fine in a home with
cats and other friendly, playful dogs

Frankie Blue Eyes decided he didn't like the adoptive home we had approved for him so Noel was more than
happy to move to Frankie's Approved adoptive home and Noel's New Parents are totally in love with him already
Noel will be living in Cleveland Heights Ohio and Frankie is safely back at CODA Central

Noel's new parents have named him KLAUS
