NOLA
Australian Shepherd Dog Mix
KATRINA SURVIVOR DOG

NOLA
Nola to our best breed guess is an Australian Shepherd Dog Mix
Nola's previous owner died during Hurricane Katrina
Nola was left homeless and all alone until someone found her and brought her
to the make shift animal shelter
next to the Civic Center in New Orleans
Nola is very underweight but appears othewise healthy
Nola received her first puppy DHLPP vaccination and her Parvo Vaccination
upon arrival in Cleveland
Nola was also heartworm tested and tested negative for heartworms
Nola weighed in at 19.5 lbs upon arrival in Cleveland
UPDATE 9.15.05
Nola presented with an upper respistory cough and has started on antibiotic
treatments
Nola is also receiving a 3 day panacur treatment to protect against giardia
and other waterborne illnesses
UPDATE 9.19.05
Nola has moved to her new foster home in Cleveland and is doing well. Nola
is 100% on her housebreaking now
Nola has gained weight nicely and is now up to her proper weight.
Nola is completely over her respitory infection and is scheduled for her Spay
Surgery on 10.18.05
Nola adores children and must have at one time had a child in her life that
she loved very much
Nola appears to know the command "sit" and is eager to please her
humans
Nola is very coordinated in her movements unlike a very young puppy so we
are guessing Nola is
at least 5-6 months old
UPDATE 10.10.05
Nola is scheduled for her Spay Surgery and second set of puppy vaccinations
on 10/18/05
UPDATE 10.19.05
Nola was spayed yesterday and is recovering from her spay surgery. When our
Director picked Nola up from the Spay/Neuter clinic she noticed what appeared
to be demodex mange appearing on Nola's head and face
Nola was taken to Gateway Animal Clinic this morning for a skin scraping which
confirmed she does indeed have demodex mange and she has started treatments
which include a salve for the demodex mange and nutritional supplements.
Nola can not receive a mange dip until her spay stitches are removed and CODA
will have that done if the salve doesn't help to get the demodex under control
before her spay sutures are removed next week.
UPDATE 11.15.05
Nola has presented with tapeworms from her initial flea infestation and has
started on her droncit treatments
