Zeus's abuse and neglect!

First Zeus had to be Heartworm Tested as he has been forced to live outdoors for the last year since he went blind!- ( Update:Zeus tested negative)

Then Zeus will need treatment for his very damaged elbows from not having a soft bed to lay on for the last year of his life living outdoors his elbows are calloused and one is filled with fluid!

Zeus may also need surgery on his tail which broke open from hitting it against the fence where he's been housed outdoors for the last year! Zeus' tail is currently scabbed over but can easily break open again if he wags and hits it against something! Zeus is doing a lot of wagging since he got here!

Zeus's recouperation and proper care began a few minutes after his previous owner surrendered Zeus to us.
Our first order of business was bathing Zeus and treating him with Frontline Flea Preventative. Here is Zeus relaxing after the first bath he's had in a long time!

Zeus has the most wonderful temperment!

Zeus loves everyone he meets, children, men, women, and other dogs and he even likes cats!

Now we need some help getting together all the funds to get Zeus the necessary veterinary medical attention he will need. Zeus saw our Vet Dr Brian Forsgren on Tuesday 8/12/03 and Dr Brian is worried most about the severe ear infections Zeus has in both of his ears.

Zeus was given a blood test for heartworm and the initial test came back negative but we won't have full results for few days. (We're praying he's Heartworm negative of course)-Update: The final test was negative!

Dr. Brian is arranging for Zeus to see a canine eye specialist and believes that Zeus is suffering from deep cataracts, which may possibly be able to be treated with a combination of cataract surgery and possible lens implantation but we won't know if Zeus is a good candidate for this eye surgery until he see's the canine eye specialist.

We are also hoping that we can get Zeus healthy enough to with stand anesthesia so that he can be neutered soon. Zeus also needs to be updated on all of his vaccines. Zeus may also need surgery on his damaged elbows and may need his tail amputated but we are going to try alternative therapies first before considering surgery for those problems!
